Dr. Lucas Knotter is a Lecturer in International Relations at the University of Groningen. In his scholarship, he marries expertise in questions of secession and state creation with International Relations theory.
He has published on these issues in Ethnopolitics and Review of International Studies, and is currently finalizing a book on classical realism and de facto states with Routledge. He has also contributed to outputs on humanitarian intervention and interpretive research methodologies. He is an active member of the ECPR Research Network on Statehood, Sovereignty and Conflict, the New Zealand Political Studies Association, and various other international academic bodies.
