Jeffrey Edward Green is a political theorist at the University of Pennsylvania, where he directs the Andrea Mitchell Center for the Study of Democracy. His books include: The Shadow of Unfairness: A Plebeian Theory of Liberal Democracy (Oxford, 2016) and The Eyes of the People: Democracy in an Age of Spectatorship (Oxford, 2010). He is currently completing a co-edited volume on religious liberty (The Changing Terrain of Religious Freedom, expected from Penn Press in 2021) and a solo-authored manuscript on Bob Dylan (Prophet Without God: Bob Dylan’s Reinvention of the Prophetic Conscience). He has broad interests in democracy, ancient and modern political philosophy, and contemporary social theory.
